What you’ll learn in this Chapter

✓ What is a Pseudo Column
✓ How Pseudo Column is different than table columns
✓ Pseudo Column types
✓ Scenarios with LEVEL

A pseudo column behaves like a table column, but is not actually stored in the table. You can select from pseudo columns, but you cannot insert, update, or delete their values.
Oracle provides several types of pseudo columns like ROWID, ROWUM, LEVEL, NEXTVAL, CURRVAL. These pseudo columns are never stored in database except ROWID. ROWID stores the address of each row in a table.
